Full ablation laser resurfacing is a more aggressive skin resurfacing treatment than fractional treatments as it removes full epidermal layers of skin. Thanks to its excellent results, this is a popular treatment however due to its technique, downtime is longer than with fractional treatments.
Because we are able to control the depth of ablation we can customise the treatment to your skin type and your needs and we can do treatments as superficial as microdermabrasion and superficial peels right through to deep dermal peeling. The downtime varies depending on the depth treated but is normally between 5 and 10 days.
This is an excellent treatment for deeper wrinkles, scar tissue, acne, pigmentation, roasaceae, tone and textural improvements and general rejuvenation where a more dramatic result is required. We often combine this treatment with other non-ablative treatments for an even more heightened effect.
Laser Peels for sun-damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles
Unfortunately we can’t stop the march of time and as we age our skin cells begin to lose moisture with less collagen being produced in the dermis – the layer of skin responsible for firmness. Elastin fibers begin to wear out, while our skin also thins as it loses fat in the subcutaneous layer. These changes combined cause our skin to sag and wrinkle.
Main factors responsible for the aging of our skin are exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun, poor diet, smoking and lack of exercise. The first signs of the aging process begin to appear in our late 20s and accelerate with subsequent decades.
Until recently the overwhelming majority of anti-ageing treatments involved the use of lotions and moisturizers or extensive cosmetic surgery to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Recent developments in laser technology are now offering a long-lasting scientifically proven method of restoring the natural beauty of your skin.
For smoother, tighter, healthy-looking skin
Laser peels can remove nearly all fine wrinkles while significantly improving deeper, more dynamic wrinkles. This is achieved by the laser beam that gently vaporises micron-thin layers of the epidermis; the more superficial layer of the skin. The laser can also thermally affect deeper skin layers to stimulate the production of new collagen in the dermis. The overall result is that your skin will not only look smoother and younger, it will feel tighter and more supple as well.
Unlike traditional treatments, such as dermabrasion and chemical peels, the unique characteristics of lasers means that our physicians can precisely control the depth and the extent to which the treatment will work. This means that we can cater the treatment exactly to suite your expectations and the recovery time you can afford.
Depending on the extent of the laser peel, most patients that have undergone the treatment compare it to having an elastic band snapped across the skin with the sensation of having sunburn afterwards. Most people can return to normal daily activities and routines immediately so there’s no need to worry about rescheduling social agendas.
Laser peels will also remove age spots and various aging-related skin lesions, as well as affect the tone of your skin, giving you a credible and natural, rejuvenated look. Of course no therapy can prevent aging and wrinkles from reappearing over time so a maintenance schedule, managed by your practitioner will keep skin looking great.
The advantages of laser skin resurfacing:
